As Program Coordinator, Katie Gonzalez Marulanda is dedicated to creating opportunities that empower Hispanic students and families through education, mentorship, and community engagement. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Katie is a daughter of immigrants and a first-generation college graduate of Colombian and Puerto Rican descent. Her experiences growing up in a multicultural community have shaped her passion for expanding access, building supportive pathways, and helping students achieve their goals.
Katie’s commitment to educational equity and community leadership has guided her academic and professional journey. She recently earned her Bachelor of Science in Political Science, with minors in History and Criminology, from LaGrange College. Throughout her time at LaGrange, Katie developed programs, led student initiatives, and advocated for inclusive opportunities that foster connection and belonging. Her experiences with the office of U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock, the Juvenile Court of Gwinnett County, and community-based organizations have strengthened her passion for mentorship, civic engagement, and creating meaningful change.
Katie is driven by the belief that representation, mentorship, and community support can transform lives. Through her work with the Hispanic Alliance, she hopes to uplift students and families, strengthen relationships, and create opportunities where young people feel empowered to lead, thrive, and pursue their aspirations.
