A list of education resources in Upstate South Carolina to ensure equal access to higher education and better career opportunities.

Greenville County Schools

  • Free Tutoring

    • All SC residents, including Greenville County Schools students, have access to free 24/7 online tutoring through SC Discuss. It covers math, science, essay writing, and AP courses in both English and Spanish.

  • Adult & Continuing Education 

    • Lifelong Learning

      • GED & High School Diploma: They offer morning and evening classes for adults to complete their secondary education.

      • ESL Classes: English as a Second Language instruction is available across five levels of proficiency.

      • WorkKeys/WIN: Preparation and testing for the South Carolina Work Ready Career Readiness Certificate, which is often required for local manufacturing and medical jobs.

Greenville Technical College

  • For students looking toward Greenville Technical College, they offer free subject tutoring (history, psychology, nursing, etc.) and specific math and writing centers.

Spartanburg Community College

  • Sartanburg Community College (SCC) has extended its “Live to Chase” initiative through the 2026-27 academic year, which provides full-tuition scholarships to qualifying students. While the spirit of the program is to make education accessible to anyone living or working in South Carolina, there are eligibility requirements and items that are not covered. SC Appleseed Legal Justice Center

  • The South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center has a K-12 guide for South Carolina parents, this guide provides a detailed look at everything you need to know for children in regards to Special Education, Enrollment, and Discipline.

YouthBuild

  • Goodwill’s YouthBuild is a community-based alternative education program that provides academic learning and occupational skills training in construction and manufacturing for at-risk youth ages 17 to 24 who have not completed their high school education.
