Hispanic Alliance selected as Featured Charity for BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD Synnex

Here we go, 2024! On Tuesday morning, the BMW Charity Pro-Am and its partners gathered at the Hotel Hartness to announced the special programming + partnerships surrounding the annual golf tournament, to be held on June 3 – 9, later this year. 

We are both humbled and honored to be selected as a Featured Charity for this year’s tournament, which is a major milestone for our organization. This year’s tournament will benefit these local charities:

To help give back to these charities, you are invited to participate in Birdies for Charities during the tournament. This program allows donors to make a one-time flat donation or pledge one cent or more per birdie.

SPOTLIGHT PRESENTER | Upstate Forever

Upstate Forever (UF) is a nonprofit conservation organization that protects critical lands, waters, and the unique character of Upstate South Carolina. UF’s Energy Program proactively works to decrease our carbon footprint, while advocating for policies that increase clean energy with a business mindset.

SPOTLIGHT PRESENTER | Greenville Connects

Greenville Connects is a local nonprofit advocating for better transit access and funding.

Greenlink needs funding to develop their plan for 30 minute service and 15+ new routes to connect all the major towns in Greenville County. Full funding will create $2 billion in local economic growth.

Right now though, our transit needs advocates to help save the route service to the Mauldin/Simpsonville community. Please contact these elected officials to help:

Clemson Career Workshop applications now open

Clemson Career Workshop (CCW) aims to expose high-achieving, underrepresented high school students to higher education, specifically Clemson University. They are recruiting high school sophomores who will be juniors after this summer to participate in the two-year program. Scholarships to CCW students who complete the program and attend Clemson! AHAM - Scholarship alerts for seniors in high school

AHAM has opened their scholarship process for Hispanic descent high school seniors in the Upstate. Scholarship applications are due March 15th!

VITA is now taking appointments to file your taxes!

VITA is now taking appointments to file your taxes! This United Way program provides free income tax preparation assistance to individuals and families with a household income of $60,000 a year or less.

Cultivating Lifelong Well-Being

The Institute for the Advancement of Community Health (IACH) and the Institute for Child Success (ICS) will be hosting “Cultivating Lifelong Well-Being”. This 2 day conference will bring together community partners, medical practitioners, educators, social workers, early childhood professionals, academics and policymakers to discuss a variety of topics including adopting best practices for maternal health, child development, developmental screening, equity, impact investing, and mental health and well-being.

USCIS fees to change on April 1st 2024

Effective April 1st of this year, several applications from USCIS will see a change including increased fees, expanded fee exemptions, and changes to fee waiver policy. The Immigrant Legal Resource Center has created a comprehensive guide with new rules and filing fees.

Evaluations for Non-evaluators

Greater Good Greenville is hosting Evaluations for Non-evaluators. This workshop is perfect if you run programs, fund programs or are considering implementing programs and need evaluation skills. The workshop is on February 28th at Kroc Center starting at 9am.

Culturally relevant food drive with Upstate International & Loaves & Fishes

Upstate International and Loaves & Fishes will celebrate the kickoff of Upstate International Month with a culturally relevant food drive generously hosted by Upstate International. You can drop off non-perishable and shelf stable foods at their location on 9 S Memminger Street in downtown Greenville.
