Hispanic Alliance Awarded three-year investment from United Way of Greenville County

September 7, 2023 | Greenville SC – The Hispanic Alliance announced today that it has been awarded annual funding from United Way of Greenville County as part of the organization’s 2024-2026 community investments.

This grant will provide the Hispanic Alliance the operational capacity & stability to expand its services to the rapidly growing Hispanic population in Greenville County and beyond. The Hispanic Alliance unites the largest network of agencies and individuals working collectively to advance equality, economic mobility, and access to vital services and resources for Hispanic communities.

“This award is especially meaningful to us,” said Adela Mendoza, Executive Director of the Hispanic Alliance. “Just over a decade ago, United Way of Greenville County provided us with the seed funding that would allow our network to flourish and catalyze opportunity for our growing Hispanic population. Both our organizations have experienced deep transformations since then, but our shared commitment to a united and thriving community remains unchanged.”

The Hispanic Alliance is one of 48 community organizations awarded United Way funding during this cycle. Overall, United Way will invest up to $3 million annually through 2026 for a total investment of $9 million. Grants were awarded through a competitive application process and selected based on each proposal’s alignment with United Way’s “How We Win” strategy for community change, which seeks to remove the four strongest barriers to higher earnings for individuals and families in Greenville County: housing, childcare, education and transportation

“The most urgent need facing Greenville County today is fighting the persistence of poverty,” said United Way of Greenville County President and CEO Meghan Barp. “Thanks to the generous support of our investors, we are proud to be able to make this impactful investment in the Hispanic Alliance. Together, we can make sure individuals and families in our community have the support and resources they need to build the life they deserve.”

The new funding cycle begins Jan. 1, 2024, and is renewable through Dec. 31, 2026.
