The Hispanic Alliance, or Alliance for Collaboration with the Hispanic Community, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Greenville, South Carolina.

Legislation under the General Data Protection Regulations, (“GDPR”), sets out requirements on us in relation to your personal data, as well as providing you with rights in relation to your personal data. This Privacy Policy, as required under GDPR, sets out how and why we, the Hispanic Alliance, collect, store, process and share your personal data. We shall always be open and transparent with you about what we do with your personal data.

2. What personal data we collect & why we collect it

Hispanic Alliance uses personal data (which includes but is not limited to, name, address, telephone contact number, email address) for the purposes of managing Hispanic Alliance, its community partners, its donors and finances, running and marketing events at Hispanic Alliance, staff employment and its fundraising activities.

The lawful reason for processing data in this way is “contract” for the purposes of serving our community.

The lawful reason for processing data for fundraising activities is “legitimate interest”.

We won’t use your information for any other purposes unless we are required to do so by law.

We do not obtain, use, store or share personal data, that would be Sensitive Personal Data as defined by GDPR.

3. Privacy in Our Donation System

Our website allows users to complete secure donations online through the use of Blackbaud eTapestry. We retain donor information in a secure database and do not share donor information for any other purpose.

4. Comments on Our Website

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

5. Media

If you upload images or PDFs to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

6. Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

7. Google Analytics

We use the web analytics service Google Analytics.

The data processing serves the purpose of analyzing this website and its visitors as well as for marketing and advertising purposes. For this purpose, Google will use the information obtained on our behalf as the operator of this website to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide us with other services related to website activity and internet usage. The following information, among others, can be collected: IP address, date and time of the page view, click path, information about the browser you are using and the device you are using (device), pages visited, referrer URL (website from which you accessed our website), location data, purchase activities. The IP address of your browser transmitted by Google Analytics is not linked to any other Google data.

Google Analytics uses technologies such as cookies, web storage in the browser and tracking pixels, which enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information about your use of our website generated by the Google Analytics cookies is normally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. There is no adequacy decision by the EU Commission for the USA. The data transmission takes place i.a. on the basis of standard contractual clauses as appropriate guarantees for the protection of personal data and is available at: https://policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks and https://business.safety.google/adsprocessorterms/. Both Google and US government agencies have access to your data. Your data may be linked by Google with other data, such as your search history, your personal accounts, your usage data from other devices and any other data that Google has about you.

IP anonymization is activated on this website. However, when you activate IP anonymization on our website, Google shortens your IP address within the Member States of the European Union or in other countries that are parties to the European Marketing Area Treaty. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.

Cookies or comparable technologies are used with your consent on the basis of § 25 (1) TTDSG in conjunction with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Your personal data will be processed with your consent on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. You can revoke your consent at any time without affecting the legality of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent up to the revocation.

8. Website Forms

We use Forminator Pro to display Forms on our website. When visitors or users submit a form, we capture the IP Address for spam protection. We also capture the email address and might capture other personal data included in the Form fields.

When visitors or users submit a form we retain the data for 30+ days.

All collected data might be shown publicly and we send it to our workers or contractors to perform necessary actions based on the form submission.

9. Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

10. Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

11. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

12. What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
