Retail Internship 

Department Overview: As a private non-profit organization, The Children’s Museum of the Upstate generates approximately 60% of its revenue through admissions, with the remaining 40% coming from individual giving, corporate giving, and grants. The Guest Services Department oversees all earned income for the museum, including admissions, memberships, and the retail store. 

The Retail Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the retail store’s operations. Responsibilities include managing inventory, working with POS systems, making sales, creating eye-catching displays, photographing products, and selecting products that appeal to our visitors. This internship offers the opportunity for further development based on the intern’s specific interests and career goals, providing a tailored and enriching experience. 

Responsibilities can include: 

  • Making sales in physical store  
  • Create eye-catching displays  
  • Updating and editing retail website 
  • Receive inventory for the retail store  
  • Assist in inventory management through Shopify Point of Sale System  
  • Assist Guest Services team with ongoing museum guests needs  

 

Requirements & Expectations: 

  • Interns must have completed at least 3 years of high school 
  • Possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills and excellent customer service skills  
  • Have the ability to pay close attention to detail, successfully manage multiple projects at a time, and work collaboratively in a diverse work environment
