We stand for compassion, dignity, and community.

A Community Message of Gratitude & Unity

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with concern, care, and solidarity for our immigrant communities across South Carolina. Your compassion reminds us of the values that hold us together as people. In moments of uncertainty, it is our shared humanity that lights the way.

We ask for your continued support in encouraging others to reject harassment and intimidation of the most vulnerable among us, and to choose empathy for our neighbors. Our children cannot feel safe when their parents live in fear.

This is not a political statement — it is a call for humanity, compassion, and moral courage.

Moments like this are an opportunity to reflect on who we want to be as a society. Strong communities cannot be built on fear, cruelty, or division. They grow from dignity, safety, and the belief that every person deserves the chance to contribute and belong.

Let us choose unity today. Together, we can protect those who need us most and build a South Carolina where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

And if you want to help, below is our coordinated plan to support and protect our community during this time.

Community Response Plan

In light of recent reports of ICE activity creating fear and confusion across South Carolina, we are activating a coordinated response to ensure families have accurate information, trusted support, and essential resources. Here is how we are working together — and how you can help.

1. Stay Informed & Share Accurate Information

  • Follow and share only verified updates from Hispanic Alliance to counter misinformation and reduce panic. Please share directly from our social media pages and those of trusted partners to avoid spreading incorrect or outdated information.

  • Help document and confirm possible ICE activity responsibly:

    • Only if it is safe, take a photo
    • Note the exact location
    • Send via text to GVL Hotline: 864-997-4221

  • This helps us confirm information quickly and prevent unnecessary fear.

2. Help Us Understand What Families Need

  • Share our Rapid Community Poll so we can understand what families need most right now:

3. Join the Community Response Effort

  • Help provide direct support to families who are afraid to leave their homes by delivering food, packing supplies at designated sites, distributing “Know Your Rights” cards
  • Support Resource Distribution
    • We have 20,000+ Know Your Rights Red Cards ready for immediate distribution
