Mark your calendars for Friday, September 18 as the Hispanic Alliance of SC kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month in style with an electrifying opening night at Camperdown Plaza in the heart of Downtown Greenville!
Date: September 18
  - September 18, 2026
Time: 6:00 pm
  - 10:00 pm
Location: Camperdown Plaza
Address: 20 E Broad St, Greenville, SC 29601

On September 18, Camperdown Plaza will become a dance floor.

The Hispanic Alliance will fill the plaza with live Latin music, folkloric dance and families celebrating together at the Hispanic Heritage Month Opening Night Concert & Celebration, presented by Prisma Health. The free event runs from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. and opens the month-long observance of Hispanic Heritage Month.

That choice of place matters. Hispanic Heritage Month belongs in the center of Greenville, where people can come with their families, meet neighbors they may not know yet and celebrate in the open air of the city they share.

Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from September 15 through October 15, honors the histories and cultures of Hispanic people and recognizes their contributions to the United States. For the Hispanic Alliance, it is also a chance to tell the story of life here in South Carolina, one the Hispanic community has been writing for generations.

“When people feel they belong, they invest in their neighborhoods, schools, businesses and civic life,” said Adela Mendoza, Executive Director of the Hispanic Alliance. “Hispanic Heritage Month is a chance to celebrate where we come from, the cultural richness that binds us together, and the future we are weaving as one thriving community”

Prisma Health joins as Presenting Sponsor of Hispanic Heritage Month 2026, extending a partnership rooted in a shared commitment to the health and belonging of every South Carolinian.

Latin Soul Band and Mariachi Orion will perform live, and Jaramillos Latin Dance will present a folkloric performance. The plaza will also become a dance floor for salsa, merengue, cumbia, bachata and reggaetón. Cash bars will be available through Group Therapy Pub & Playground. No ticket is required for admission.

Hispanic Heritage Month 2026 is presented by Prisma Health and supported by Tito’s Vodka, Molina Healthcare, New York Life and G&H Financial Consultants, Truliant Federal Credit Union, Group Therapy Pub & Playground, TowneBank, Greenville Journal and Countybank.

This project is also funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Over the following weeks, the story will continue through the Hispanic Líderes Series, with profiles of Hispanic leaders from across South Carolina, and through partner events around the region. The 2026 theme, LIDERANDO: Corazón. Propósito. Sin Límites., recognizes leadership as part of the heritage being celebrated and as part of the community’s life today.
