Reports To:  Director of Development and Communications

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Development and Communications to create, implement, and evaluate strategies that lead to sound donor cultivation, prospecting, segmenting, acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship goals 

 

  • Alongside CEO and Director of Development and Communications, serve as primary fundraiser building donor relationships through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship

 

  • Actively manage a portfolio of mid-level and monthly donors, building year-round engagement activities to foster ongoing support of our mission 

 

  • Create individual stewardship plans and giving goals for each donor based on giving history, relationships, and knowledge of the donor’s giving capacity 

 

  • Research, recruit, and steward prospective donors including individuals and corporations  

 

  • Engage donors by explaining and promoting the organization’s mission and goals in donor meetings and at community speaking engagements 

 

  • In collaboration with the Director of Development and Communications, serve as lead staff person responsible for planning and execution of Safe Harbor’s fundraiser, At The Table, inclusive of logistics, program planning, ticket/table sales, and corporate sponsorship acquisition and renewals 
  • Serve as lead staff person to organize and attend external fundraising events 

 

  • Manage or assist with logistics needed for all activities related to annual fund, campaigns, appeals, and special fundraising events 
  • Record and update donor meeting/interaction notes in donor database (Bloomerang) ensuring donor information is accurate
  • Stay informed of current fundraising trends, techniques, and technology

Primary Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

Work Experience

  • 1-3 years of nonprofit fund development experience

Core Skills

  • Demonstrated success in managing and meeting fundraising goals
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate donor solicitations and successful donor pipeline management
  • Experience with event planning or project management
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • High degree of integrity and work ethic
  • Ability to engage in positive public interaction with donors
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Communicates effectively and appropriately, speaking in a clear and credible manner and selecting the right tone for the situation and audience
