JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to performs inventory and system control of all departmental equipment and vehicles. Orders and issues departmental equipment and vehicles to police and civilian personnel. Ensures all vehicles are maintained and schedules maintenance for all town and police vehicles and equipment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develops and manages budget requirements to support the required equipment and vehicle maintenance, replacement, and procurement.

Performs an inventory of all police equipment and vehicles on an administrative schedule.

Issues equipment and vehicles to employees and documents all issued equipment.

Schedules and tracks the maintenance of all town vehicles, motorized equipment, police equipment, and uniforms.

Maintains a database of departmental items including body armor, tasers, etc., and schedules replacements within expiration dates.

Coordinates disposal of outdated and/or surplus vehicles and equipment.

Generates the proper documentation required for ordering vehicles and police equipment.

Develops and manages vendor relationships necessary to acquisition fleet and police equipment.

Reviews bid proposals, researches and negotiates pricing and contracts in compliance with department budget.

Reviews and approves invoices ready for payment.

Manages the 1033 Program and all equipment under it.

Forwards all equipment / vehicle requests for approval through the chaing of command via MUNIS.

Performs maintenance on all department weapons and maintains current amorer certification for department weapons.

Performs troubleshooting of police vehicles and equipment. Repairs or coordinates repairs with appropriate maintenance personnel.

Provides the accredidation manager with any and all documents required for CALEA accreditation.

Provides assistance as needed to the training sergeant and provides supervision to the facilities technician.

Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred. A comparable combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position, may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Licenses or Certifications:

Valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Armorer’s Certification for AR Platform and SIG P320 or ability to obtain within first year of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of modern record keeping procedures and practices.

Knowledge of law enforcement forms, terminology and records.

Knowledge of department programs, policies and procedures.

Knowledge of police equipment / vehicles is preferable.

Knowledge of vehicle systems and general maintenance is required.

Knowledge of aftermarket vehicle electronics is preferred.

Knowledge of budgeting, government procurement rules, and grant funding is required.

Ability to perform a considerable volume of detailed record work.

Ability to maintain files.

Ability to type and enter data accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed.

Ability to operate general office and data entry equipment.

Ability to follow written and oral directions.
