The Greenville County Department of Public Safety is looking for energetic, people friendly professionals looking to start or transition into a promising career serving our citizens at our Detention Center, conveniently located in beautiful downtown Greenville.
As a new Detention Officer, you will receive the top starting annual salary rate in South Carolina, a great benefits package, and three weeks paid onsite training to start. We also pay additional for education, being bi-lingual and prior corrections work experience. Within the first year you will have the opportunity to attend additional training to become a State Certified Detention Officer at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
At the Greenville County Detention Center we identify the potential in all our employees and those who work hard and are dedicated can rise rapidly through the ranks. We have 12 hour day and 12 hour night shifts. In each 14 day pay period you will work 7 days. For those who work beyond the standard hours, they will be paid time and half for the overtime hours worked.
Starting Pay is $47,495 – $70,458 ($21.82 – $33.87 per hour).
Starting Pay increase for Bilingual, Education and experience as follows:
- +5% A.S. degree (in Criminal Justice or a related field),
- +5% for being Bilingual,
- +10% B.S. degree (in Criminal Justice or a related field)
- + 1.25% for each year of Criminal Justice experience may be awarded at the time of hire.
