Responsibilities

Comprehensive Campaign Strategy and Implementation:

  • Work collaboratively with branch leadership to develop and maintain a detailed campaign plan and calendar to achieve campaign goals.
  • Manages implementation of a year-round annual fund strategy for the YMCA in collaboration with staff and volunteers.
  • Work with the Chief Development Officer to set priorities; manage and adjust the work plan and calendar as needed.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of major programmatic initiatives.
  • Work with the Chief Development Officer to manage revenue projection and expense budget, as well as pledges and pledge fulfillments.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing Department to develop communication and strategies to successfully promote annual giving activities. Manages the creation and production of campaign materials, including (but not limited to) websites for online giving, letters, emails, and prospectuses.
  • Identifies, cultivates and solicits branch annual fund prospects.
  • Identifies, engages, and manages volunteers to support development operations and events.
  • Manages an individual portfolio of donors, solicits donations on behalf of the Association, and serves as the primary relationship manager for their portfolio of prospects, developing and implementing a written donor strategy and relationship record of all interactions.
  • Manages communication with donors relating to pledges and payments, the process of monthly invoicing, bank draft management and account collections.
  • Performs general administrative support functions to support the fundraising activities such as scheduling, planning, and coordinating meetings, activities, and events.
  • Follows and innovates procedures for communication with donors, including timely acknowledgement of gifts.
  • Ensure proper donor recognition and oversee accurate donor lists.
  • Project manages annual appeals ensuring deadlines and fundraising goals are met.
  • Will intentionally and continuously strive to promote an organizational culture that advances practices and policies which value diversity, strengthen inclusion, and build global community in the US and abroad.

Events

  • Work with the Financial Development Team to strategize and help execute cultivation events for major donors and prospects.
  • Be a visible presence at special events, such as major donor cultivation events and fundraisers.

Reporting

  • Manage the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System to ensure data accuracy and cleanliness related to donor activity, and is responsible for exporting data for communications, analysis, and reporting.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer and Data manager, establishes processes and standard procedures, and designs reports and queries.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations based on reporting.
  • Provide detailed prospect reports for solicitors.
  • Work with Annual Campaign volunteers, including recruitment, cultivation, stewardship and soliciting feedback.
  • Track and report on progress to goal, including donors, gifts, and pledges.
  • Track and report on Association key performance indicators such as dollars raised and donors, as well as success rates.

Other Expectations:

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Follow employees’ and volunteers’ screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumer from abuse.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience is required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in fundraising and/or donor relations.
  • Knowledgeable with the principles of annual campaign organization and marketing including special events, and special projects/campaigns.
  • Experience with direct mail campaigns and mass communications.
  • Personal computer skills, including the use of Google or Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in working with CRM or database software.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, taking initiative to assist in the development of others and self.
  • Understanding of and enthusiasm for the YMCA’s mission and cause.
  • Experience in working closely with volunteers and/or volunteer committees is preferred.
  • Knowledge of best practices in fundraising is preferred.
  • Willingness to be hands-on in a role that is demanding and requires a high level of energy and professionalism.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally with a culturally diverse group of volunteers, co-workers, and donors.
