Job Description

Under general supervision of the Drama Department Chair, provides administrative and secretarial support for the Drama Department. Assists with scheduling for the semester, which includes creating and posting the schedule. Coordinating campus space and anticipating facility needs. Ensuring teaching spaces are setup with appropriate technology needs for instructors and guest artists. Assist with communications with guest artists and monthly messaging to parents. Assists students with college audition prep, to include guidance on how to navigate their own questions and ability to determine when faculty support is needed. Assist with preparation of the Chicago Unified Auditions prep, which includes any last-minute arrangements and coordination with the Foundation. Provide administrative support for all departmental performances and events. Performs general clerical duties for the Drama Department. Assists in coordination and set-up of special events for students. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Requirements

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma and two years of progressively responsible administrative or secretarial experience.
PREFERRED: Minimum plus two years of administrative experience in a high school setting or a setting that involves high school age children.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITES: Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment; Knowledge of various types of filing systems; Knowledge of grammatical rules and clerical formats; Ability to deal with a diverse population including students, parents, and faculty in handling inquiries and communicating information; Ability to maintain and establish good working relationships with staff members and the general public: Must be able to hear, speak audibly, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. Must have a valid driver’s license
