Ed Roman has been involved with the Hispanic Alliance since 2012. Over the years, he\u2019s served in many capacities, including as Chair of the Education Team, mentor to students at Southside High and Legacy Early College, and now Assistant Principal at Berea High School.<\/span><\/p>

What stands out to Ed about HA\u2019s work is its consistent focus on empowerment across all areas of life. He sees the organization as not just benefiting the Hispanic community, but contributing to a stronger, more connected Upstate for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Two programs Ed is especially proud of are the Student DREAMers Alliance and the Lunch and Learn series.<\/span><\/p>

Reflecting on the origins of Lunch and Learns, he recalls how it began with a clear and simple approach: \u201cWe were going to the schools and saying, \u2018How can we help?\u2019\u201d That question, posed again and again to principals and educators, led to the development of meaningful partnerships and support tailored to each school\u2019s needs.<\/span><\/p>

From classroom visits to student mentoring, the Lunch and Learn series has become a trusted model for bridging school needs with community resources.<\/span><\/p>

He also speaks highly of the Student DREAMers Alliance, a leadership program supporting Hispanic high school students in Greenville and Charleston.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cI think [HA] has had a significant impact,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd I\u2019m very proud of the Dreamers Alliance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Looking to the Future<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

When asked what he envisions for the Alliance\u2019s future, Ed is hopeful about expanding HA\u2019s reach across the Upstate.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cI see the Alliance having more fairs, more impact\u2014especially with healthcare and with more advocates in the community,\u201d he shares. \u201cDreamers Alliance maybe doubling in size to go to four or six high schools here in Greenville.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

That kind of growth, he believes, would lead to broader community impact and stronger support systems for students and families.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Why This Work Matters<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As an educator, Ed values tangible outcomes\u2014what he calls \u201cthe impact, the outcomes, the end results.\u201d And from his perspective, HA\u2019s results speak for themselves.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cI say that because I believe Hispanic Alliance has had outstanding, phenomenal impact\u2014which hopefully will continue.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

For over a decade, Ed has remained committed to HA\u2019s mission, and his ongoing involvement is a reflection of the trust and purpose he finds in its work.<\/span><\/p>
