Bilingual Patient Services Associate
Position with: Anderson Free Clinic
Full Time – 40 hrs (Tuesday-Friday), hourly, with benefits
Reports to Clinical Services Coordinator
Supervisory responsibilities are to supervise the work of volunteers assigned to area
Summary of Position: Supports the overall mission, goals and work of the Clinic and its components, Pharmacy, Dental and Medical services and education. Working as a team with the other Patient Services Associate performs a variety of duties both administrative and clerical in nature to plan, organize, and coordinate patient relations for their health care, while ensuring they meet eligibility criteria to be AFC patient.
The Patient Services Associate is usually the first line of communication between all patient and a health care provider, whether it's on the phone or in person and is responsible for keeping, updating and maintaining records by getting the appropriate information from both patients and doctors as related to the office visit and follow up.
This person also checks patients in and out, schedules tests and medical procedures, (and orients patients on requirements of each), handles paperwork and charts, answers phones and inputs data into a computer. As needs and situation calls for, must be able to shift from one task to another and/or multitask.
The Bilingual Patient Services Associate is also one of the two point of contacts to Spanish speaking patients, thus requiring fluency in both English and Spanish. Comprehension of Medical Terminology will be required no later than 30 days on the job and proficiency will be tested.
Education and Experience Requirements: High School degree coupled with clinical or social services experience or experience that demonstrate ability to transfer skills in planning, multi-tasking, prioritizing, organizing, & coordinating patient relations; Fluency translating from English to Spanish and vice versa, planning, organizing and coordinating services.
Knowledge Requirements: Fluency in both English and Spanish; Current knowledge of medical terminology & procedures or ability to demonstrate knowledge in 30 days; Ability to accurately translate critical medical information from English to the patient's native language; English and Spanish written translation skills.

Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Pharmacy software – QS1 will be required the first week on the job.
